EAPPI welcomes the 29th group of Ecumenical Accompaniers
A new group of 24 Ecumenical Accompaniers (EAs) have begun their three months working with the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI). The new arrivals bring the total number of EAs to have participated in the programme to 498.
The 29th group of Ecumenical Accompaniers comprises 19 women and 5 men, from 10 different countries (Canada, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Norway, Poland, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland and UK). Among other professions, the EAPPI welcomes seven teachers, three priests and two journalists. Five EAs are returning for another term. Profiles of the current EAs can be viewed here.
EAs from the group are based in six placements: Bethlehem, Hebron, Jayyous, Tulkarem, Yanoun, and Jerusalem.
Ecumenical Accompaniers, who serve a minimum of three months, work in various capacities with local churches, Palestinian and Israeli NGOs, as well as Palestinian communities to try to reduce the brutality of the Occupation and improve the daily lives of both peoples. The WCC would like to welcome the new group to Israel/Palestine.
