Twenty-three new Ecumenical Accompaniers start their term
A new group of 23 Ecumenical Accompaniers (EAs) recently began three months working with the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI). The new arrivals bring the total number of accompaniers to have participated in the programme to 456.
1 renewing and 22 new Accompaniers from 8 different countries will be placed in teams of 4 in the 6 placements except for Jerusalem which will have a team of 3 EA's.
The 26th group of Ecumenical Accompaniers comprises 14 women and 9 men, from 8 different countries (Norway, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Finland, Germany and the UK). One Swiss EA is continuing for a second term from the previous group. Profiles of the current EAs will be posted soon on the EAPPI website.
EAs from the group are based in six placements: Bethlehem, Hebron, Jayyous, Tulkarem, Yanoun, and Jerusalem.
Ecumenical Accompaniers, who serve a minimum of three months, work in various capacities with local churches, Palestinian and Israeli NGOs, as well as Palestinian communities to try to reduce the brutality of the Occupation and improve the daily lives of both peoples. The WCC would like to welcome the new group to Israel/Palestine.
