Report on Settler activities in Yanoun

Автор: EAs from Yanoun

The EAPPI team 26 were absent from Yanoun and staff from Project Hope (Nablus) were providing cover when, on Friday, April 11 - around 11:30 - three settlers arrived. All three were carrying guns. Rashid from the village council was already talking to them and they told him that they were from Jerusalem. One Project Hope member took pictures and Rashid videotaped them. The settlers walked around in the village for a while with a map. Soon one of the settlers undressed to his underwear and stood in the well of Upper Yanoun as Rashid approached them again. Rashid asked them to go home: “You are making trouble here. This is our drinking well. Go back to your home.”  The settler who had waded in the well got dressed again.

Around 25 persons from the village were out watching the event. Six young men from Upper Yanoun also joined Rashid as he talked to the settlers. The woman from project Hope was constantly present.  The settlers asked Rashid not to let the young men come any closer: “we are leaving now”.  One of the Hebrew speaking villagers joined Rashid and he also talked to the settlers. The settlers then said that they were looking for a specific well. Khamal pointed towards the Jordan valley where that well is located, quite far from Yanoun. The three men then left the village.

The settlers were also seen in Nabinun earlier in the day, also with their guns.
